Macular Degeneration Awareness Week 2016
This week – May 22-28 2016 – is Macular Degeneration Awareness week, and here at Sydney Ophthalmic Specialists, we encourage each and every one of you to get your eyes checked regularly.
If you’re over 50 years of age, then you’re at risk of macular degeneration. Have your eyes checked with your optometrist or ophthalmologist and ensure the macular is examined. Early detection and treatment of macular degeneration is essential for vision preservation.
A few points to remember:
- Have regular eye examinations and make sure the macula is checked
- Never ignore any changes in vision
- Eat an “eye friendly” diet including fish, dark green leafy vegetables and fresh fruit
- Lead a healthy lifestyle and do not smoke
