Screen Time For Young Children

How much screen time should my child be having? Will screen time cause damage to my child’s eyes? These are questions we so often get asked at Sydney Ophthalmic Specialists. Our advice is that screen time is fine for children, so long as you follow some simple rules:

– Use screen time in moderation, and allow no longer than 1 hour of screen time in young children under the age of two years

– Balance screen time with outdoor time, time spend playing with toys and other non-screen based activities

– Use common sense when it comes to limiting screen time in young children

– We recommend 2 hours of outdoor play per day for children
